- Sterile and ready-to-use
The INRA Extender is sterile and ready-to-use. This equine semen extender is formulated with fractions of milk micellar proteins, which are highly protective to sperm cells. It is well recognized for its ability to protect the ejaculates of even the most difficult stallions.
INRA 96 extender preservation results obtained after 24 hours of preservation demonstrate that the fertility of some stallions was improved by preserving their semen at 15°C (Batellier et al.). This extender is an alternative for stallions whose semen cannot withstand the harmful effects of the cold shock induced by reducing the temperature to 4°C. These results indicate that INRA 96 can be used at temperatures of both 39°F and 59°F (4°C and 15°C), in line with requirements and depending on stallion semen quality. Moreover, the results obtained after 72 hours of preservation demonstrate the feasibility of preserving semen in INRA 96 for more than 24 hours prior to insemination (Le Frapper et al.).
pH: 6.9 ± 0.2 Osmolarity: 315 ± 15 mOsm/l. INRA 96 extender contains antibiotics (penicillin and gentamicin) and a fungicide (amphotericin B).
Diluting to 500 million progressively motile sperm per dose of fresh semen in 40 to 50 ml total dose volume. 1:3 to 1:5 dilution (ejaculate : extender)
Storage: INRA 96 can be used at temperatures of both 39°F and 59°F (4°C and 15°C), in line with requirements and depending on stallion semen quality.
INRA 96 consists of purified fractions of milk micellar proteins to offer superior protection for the sperm cells. It also contains antibiotics (Penicillin 27 mg/l - Gentamycin 76 mg/l) and a fungicide (Amphotericin B) and is formulated with fractions of milk micellar proteins.
To maintain the effectiveness of INRA, do not store it in the freezer for longer than one year. If the bottle is unopened, adhere to the expiration date to guarantee maximum effectiveness.
Benefits of INRA 96 Extender

Key Features
The INRA extender has many features, making it an excellent tool for breeding and other reproductive needs. These features include:
- Proven protection: INRA 96's unique formulation contains fractions of milk micellar proteins, which provide superior protection to equine sperm cells. These proteins create a protective environment to minimize cell damage during cooling and storage, which is especially beneficial for stallions who produce low-quality semen or semen that is more sensitive to handling and storage. INRA 96 makes it simple to maintain sperm mobility and integrity, leading to higher fertility rates during the artificial insemination process.
- Extended potential for fertility: One of the main features of INRA 96 is its ability to maintain the fertility potential of semen for more than 24 hours after collection. This extended viability gives breeders greater flexibility in timing insemination with mares and allows breeders to plan insemination around the mare's estrus cycle. The ability to time insemination provides for a more successful insemination process, and you have more options to create healthy offspring with your ideal genetic traits.
- Sterile and ready for use: The INRA 96 semen extender is sterilized and ready for immediate use, simplifying the insemination process for breeders and veterinarians. The extender's ready-to-use nature removes the need for a complicated preparation process to save time. This convenience is especially useful in high-pressure situations where timing is critical, such as during breeding seasons or managing multiple mares. With an easy-to-use extender, breeders can focus on the insemination process instead of preparing materials for a smoother workflow.
